Meet Tyler Clark, the visionary founder behind PermOasis Retreat. His journey to create this haven of sustainability, wellness, and connection with nature is as inspiring as the retreat itself.
Tyler's roots are in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he was born and raised in Halifax. At the age of two, he and his single mother moved to Truro, seeking a quieter life surrounded by nature's beauty. Little did he know that this early connection to nature would shape his future.
When Tyler was 12, his life took an unexpected turn when his mother was diagnosed with cancer. Despite the challenges that lay ahead, their shared focus on health and well-being became a beacon of hope. Tyler's intelligence and innate curiosity led him to an accidental discovery at the age of seven—self-hypnosis. This newfound skill would later become a powerful tool for personal growth and healing.
After a courageous battle, Tyler's mother passed away when he was 17. This pivotal moment ignited his passion for health and wellness. He embarked on a journey to transform his life, starting with dietary changes. He eliminated beef, pork, and dairy from his diet and honed in on foods that were compatible with his body, guided by an allergy sensitivity test he underwent through hypnosis. Remarkably, his once-frequent bouts of chest infections, colds, and cases of flu ceased entirely. What would previously be months of recovery turned into a scratchy throat for a day or two.
Tyler's professional journey also played a significant role in shaping his vision for PermOasis Retreat. He began working on a farm at the age of 15, experiencing firsthand the beauty and challenges of rural life. At 18, he entered the culinary world, where he spent 16 years working in various roles, often as a manager or supervisor. In 2012, at the age of 27, he became certified in traditional, Ericksonian, and Ultra-Depth hypnotherapy methods. This marked a profound shift in his career, as he transitioned into a role focused on holistic well-being and personal transformation.
A near-death experience reinforced Tyler's belief in the interconnectedness of all things. He understood that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, emphasizing the importance of positive balance in life. This epiphany further fueled his dedication to creating a retreat where individuals could find that balance, connect with nature, and embark on journeys of healing and transformation.
Tyler's journey ultimately led him to PermOasis Retreat, a culmination of his life experiences and a testament to his unwavering commitment to sustainability, holistic well-being, and harmonious living. As you explore PermOasis Retreat, you'll discover the embodiment of Tyler's vision—a place where guests can escape the noise of the world, reconnect with nature, and embark on their own journeys of healing, growth, and balance. Tyler's story is an integral part of the retreat's narrative, inspiring all who visit to seek their own path to well-being and harmony.
Meet Jennifer Clark, the driving force behind PermOasis Retreat's transformative journey toward mental health and holistic well-being. Her legacy is a testament to resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to nurturing the human spirit.
Jennifer's journey began in Sackville, New Brunswick, where she found solace in the region's serene landscapes and natural wonders. Guided by her profound connection to the outdoors, she cultivated a deep reverence for nature and a profound understanding of its healing power.
Early in her career, Jennifer dedicated herself to the field of early childhood education, driven by a passion to foster the growth and development of young minds. Her leadership as the director of a new daycare center reflected her unwavering dedication to creating a nurturing environment where children could thrive and flourish.
But Jennifer's path was not without its challenges. She courageously battled mental illness, confronting the shadows that threatened to dim her inner light. Through her struggles, she exemplified strength, resilience, and an unwavering determination to reclaim her well-being.
As a single mother, Jennifer faced the daunting task of raising her son, Taylor, amidst the complexities of her own journey. Her love and devotion to Taylor, now a remarkable young man at the age of 20, epitomized her unwavering commitment to family and resilience in the face of adversity.
Jennifer's work as a support worker for the Boys and Girls Club further underscored her dedication to serving those in need, particularly children grappling with mental health challenges. Her compassionate spirit and empathetic nature left an indelible mark on the lives of those she touched.
Jennifer's vision for PermOasis Retreat was born from her own journey toward mental wellness—a sanctuary rooted in compassion, healing, and personal transformation. Though she battled mental illness, her spirit remains woven into the fabric of PermOasis Retreat, guiding its mission to nurture the holistic well-being of all who seek refuge within its embrace.
Jennifer's passing is a poignant reminder of the profound impact of mental illness and the importance of fostering a community of support and understanding. As we honor her memory, we pledge to continue her legacy, cultivating a space where individuals can find solace, healing, and hope on their journey toward mental wellness.
